In addition to the Modified War Bird sole and perimeter weighting, Big Bertha Heavenwood hybrids are equipped with several Callaway core technologies. The clubs' Variable Face Thickness (VFT) technology, for instance, allows Callaway engineers to adjust the face thickness to maximize the ball speed and perimeter weighting of the club. This produces even more distance and forgiveness, a must when trying to eke out a few extra yards from the fairway on long par 4s and 5s. With VFT in place, the club is thicker in the center and ultra-thin around the edges, allowing the clubface to transfer more energy to the ball at the moment of impact. Another crucial improvement comes in the form of the S2H2 design, a patented technology that shortens the length of the hosel and allows Callaway to move the weight lower and to the more useful perimeter weight of the clubhead. This boosts your MOI, producing more distance and better forgiveness with each shot. The club also integrates Tru-Bore technology within the construction. Tru-Bore technology allows the shaft tip to extend through the hosel and clubhead all the way to the sole. This, in turn, improves the feel and control of the club by moving the tip of the shaft closer to the center of the clubface.
